Committee for public associations, youth policy, sports and the mass media
The committee for public unions, youth policy, sports and the mass media was set up by the Decree of the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldovan Republic  “On the staff of Committees and  Commissions of the Supreme Council of PMR” of September 11, 2006  for the duration of  the 4th Supreme Council.

The committee’s business is regulated by the Constitution of PMR, constitutional laws, by the law “On a status of a people’s deputy of the Supreme Council of PMR”, by the Regulation of the Supreme Council of PMR, by resolutions of the Supreme Council of PMR, by decrees of the Chairman of the Supreme Council and by the present regulations.

The committee deals with constitutional and legal matters on public associations, youth policy, sports and the mass media.The committee drafts and scrutinizes bills, the Supreme Council’s decrees and other legal acts of on the following matters:
  • public associations
  • religious organizations
  • youth policy
  • physical culture and sports
  • mass media
  • drafts resolutions and amendments to bills on matters within the remit of other committees.
  • sets up working groups of the committee and introduces proposals on creation of joint working groups with other committees for consideration of bills: it prepares papers for sending bills to the examination of the state and public bodies and to the scientific expertise.
  • At its sittings the committee considers proposals and remarks of the entities of the legislative initiative to be introduced to the bill.
  • It presents the proposals on invitation of persons to attend the sittings of the Supreme Council for examination of bills drafted by the committee;
  • It transmit bills drafted by the committee to be introduced to the Supreme Council;
  • The committee makes proposals on the agenda of sitting of the Supreme Council;
  • It produces a supplementary report during the debate of the Supreme Council on a bill introduced by the entity of the legislative initiative;
  • It moves motions on changes and amendments to Standing Orders of the Supreme Council;
  • It carries out the functions of the parliamentary control over implementation of laws within the Committee’s remit. The heads of ministries and departments can be invited to the Committee sittings;
  • Designs and approves the Committee work programmes;
  • Designs and approves the standing order of the Committee.
